Maintaining Disks 

The following commands deal primarily with the condition of disks and
data.

Recovering Data From Defective Disks 

To recover data from a defective disk, enter:

     volutil:DSECTORSVOL VOL=ldev setname:volname 

Deleting a Volume 

To tell the system a disk is free for use, enter:

     volutil:SCRATCHVOL LDEV=nn 

Undeleting a Volume 

To undo SCRATCHVOL, enter:

     volutil:UNSCRATCHVOL LDEV=nn 

Verifying the Readability of a Volume 

To verify the data on a volume to ensure its readability, enter:

     volutil:VERIFYVOL ldev setname:volname 

Formatting Disks Online 

From the list produced by entering the :DSTAT command, select a disk LDEV
number with a status of UNKNOWN or SCRATCH. Enter:

     volutil:FORMATVOL LDEV=nn 

This command is rarely used.  Contact your HP representative before using
it.
