Description
x4queview provides a menu for selecting queues (directories) and/or
files. The x4queviewutility decodes and displays all X.400 messages in a
given directory in a readable text format. The x4queviewutility allows
users to direct output to a file, to select different types of X.400
messages (user message, delivery report, or probe), and to delete X.400
messages. Users should be familiar with the X.400 standards.
Using x4queview, you can view the message contents along with the header
information such as the originator, message identifier, size, and arrival
time of the message.
X.400 messages can be in two formats: ASN.1 (HP Desk and Sendmail
connections) and IFF (HP Desk). When displayed, the messages look
different from each other. An example of both outputs is given.
x4queview determines the type of message by the name of the queue that it
resides in and sometimes by looking at the first letter of the file
containing the message:
* All messages in the IQ, OQ, and TQ are ASN.1 type.
* All messages in the EIQ and DOQ are IFF type.
* The UQ can contain both message formats. If the first letter of a
file name in the UQ starts with I, M, or D, the message is ASN.1
type. If the first letter is T, the message is IFF format. If
the first letter is none of the above, the message is an
undetermined type and is not processed.
x4queview also allows you to delete X.400 messages. x4queview deletes
X.400 messages in the undelivery queue and trace queue at any time, but
deletes all other X.400 messages only when X.400 is not running.
If a message in a specified queue is not an X.400 message, or is not a
valid X.400 message, an error message is returned.
