Parameters
-a number The maximum number of messages that can be in all
input and output Queues, awaiting RTS or MTA
processing without generating a warning.
Default: 100.
-d percent The maximum percentage usage that can be made of the
disk on which the X.400 messages are spooled without
generating a warning.
Default: 85.
-e minutes The number of minutes after which an entry in the
error log will not be warned against. This is so
that old entry in the error log does not continue to
generate a warning infinitely.
Default: 120.
-f kbytes The maximum number of kilobytes that any log file in
the /usr/spool/x400/log directory can grow to without
generating a warning.
Default: 4096.
-i number The maximum number of messages that can be in the MTA
input queue without generating a warning.
-o number The maximum number of messages that can be in one of
the MTA's output queues before generating a warning.
Default: 25.
-p seconds The time period between making checks for the various
warning conditions. This is applicable in continuous
mode only.
Default: 10.
-s Single-shot mode.
Default: Continuous mode.
-t seconds Time to read warning and action message. In
continuous mode, all warnings will be given in each
cycle. The messages will be displayed for this
number of seconds before moving on to the next.
Default: 10.
-w minutes The maximum number of minutes a message can wait in
an input or output queue without generating a warning
message.
Default: 60.
Description
The x4monitor utility checks various internal queues and disk usage to
see that thresholds have not been exceeded. It also checks the error log
for recent entries. Any potential problem is displayed and a possible
action suggested for a certain time-period. x4monitor can be used in
continuous or single-shot mode. In continuous mode the command will
check for various early-warning conditions and display a warning and
action for each problem it finds. In single-shot mode only the first
warning and action will be displayed. This mode is designed for remote
use so many systems can be monitored from a central point by periodic
remote execution of the x4monitor command on each system.
