PC Client Problems
When you start up the NetWare shell on a client PC, if you receive the
message:
A file server could not be found.
This message can indicate a conflict in the frame type between the file
server and the client. If you changed the default for NetWare/iX to
Ethernet II, you must also change the client to support Ethernet II. Use
ECONFIG to update ipx. com as described in Chapter 7, Advanced
Configuration.
If you cannot find the network drive:
1. Check the config.sys file for the statement LASTDRIVE= .
If the LASTDRIVE statement is deleted, the default network drive
is F.
If LASTDRIVE is set to E then the network drive is F. Make sure
that LASTDRIVE is not set to Z.
2. Reboot the PC if you change the config.sys file then try running
your NetWare client shell again.
If you have intermittent problems attaching from a client to a server
when executing netx, emsnetx or xmsnetx and you are using an HP Ether
Twist hub, disable the LAN-card-to-HUB communication (Link-Beat) using
the SW4 dip switch located on the client LAN card.
If you have intermittent problems attaching from the client to the server
and you are using older versions of the NetWare shells such as net5,
upgrade the shells to netx.
