Setting up 802.3 and Ethernet II on One LAN Card
If you havea network environment including clients using both Ethernet
802.3 and Ethernet II frame type, you can set up your system to support
both over one LAN card. The SCONSOLE utility "Add a Network" function is
used to configure a network.
Adding Ethernet 802.3 Network
If you have not changed the default configuration for NetWare for the HP
3000, the Ethernet 802.3 configuration is already done. The default
configuration uses the values described in Table 7-3 under the
column, Ethernet 802.3 values using defaults).
If you do not have an 802.3 network configured, you can use the Add a
Network function to enter the values from the table.
Adding Ethernet II Network.
To add an Ethernet II network:
1. From the Main menu in SCONSOLE, select Configuration (item 2).
2. The Configuration menu is displayed. Select Transport
Configuration (item 1).
3. The Transport Configuration Menu is displayed. Select Add A
Network (item 4).
4. The Add a Network screen is displayed. You are prompted to enter
each parameter value.
Use Table 7-3 under the column, Ethernet II to enter the
correct values for each parameter. Press <Enter> after each item
is entered to move to the next field.
This example shows the second network using the value 00000003 for
the network number.
5. After you enter the parameters requested, the following is
displayed:
Added Network nnnnnnnn
Press RETURN to Continue...
6. To save your configuration and exit, Enter e at the Request
prompt.
7. If you are finished with your updates, go to the section, Activate
Configuration Changes.
