Creating NetWare Volumes
A NetWare volume is a hierarchical file system (HFS) directory on the MPE
system that has been allocated for use by the NetWare product. This is
different than an MPE system volume which refers to a physical disk.
MPE HFS directories can be mapped to NetWare volumes using the SCONSOLE
utility.
The default installation process creates one volume SYS: which is mapped
to the /usr/netware/sys HFS directory. NetWare/iX supports up to 64
NetWare volumes. The directories used for volumes must follow MPE POSIX
naming conventions.
Add a Volume
To add a NetWare volume:
1. Log into your MPE system:
:hello manager.sys, netware
2. Type the command:
:run sconsole
3. The SCONSOLE Main menu is displayed. Select the following
options:

prompted:
Would you like to add other volumes|name spaces (y or n)?
6. When you have finished adding volumes, type n at the prompt.
7. Exit SCONSOLE.
8. You must restart NetWare/iX in order for the configuration changes
to take affect.
Limitations
* Do not create volumes within volumes.
* Be aware that you cannot limit the size of NetWare volumes.
Whatever free space is available on your system can be used by
NetWare on the HP 3000.
* Only DOS name space is supported on this release of NetWare/iX.
Open File System Security
If you create a volume that is used by both MPE/POSIX users and NetWare
clients, make sure you understand how to set up security, and understand
the constraints of sharing files across both NetWare and MPE/POSIX.
The hybrid utility is not available on this release of NetWare/iX. Users
can share files between MPE/POSIX and NetWare with the following
constraints:
* Do not delete or rename NetWare files from the MPE/iX environment.
This operation may result in serious file corruption and/or a
Netware engine hanging indefinitely.
* Always delete or rename NetWare files from a NetWare client. If
NetWare is down, you can delete or rename NetWare files from
MPE/iX.
