Use Default Host Printer Mapping
The NetWare/iX product provides a sample host configuration you can use
to setup one host printer for NetWare print services. You can use these
defaults if you have an MPE/iX device named "lp". The configured values
are included on the Host Printer Worksheet (in this chapter, and an extra
copy in Appendix A):
Figure 6-2.
The host printer mapping (configured in SCONSOLE) has already been done.
To complete the configuration, use the NetWare utility PCONSOLE as
described below:
1. Make sure NetWare/iX has been started:
a. Log into your MPE system:
:hello manager.sys,netware
b. Type the command:
:nw status
c. If you need to start NetWare, type:
:nw start
2. From a NetWare client, log into the NetWare/iX server as
SUPERVISOR:
F>login supervisor
3. Run the NetWare print utility:
PCONSOLE
4. The PSCONSOLE menu is displayed. Create a NetWare print queue by
choosing: "Print Queue Information"
Press <Insert> and type in a print queue name. For example, you
could name the queue: MPEHOSTQ1 Enter this name on your Host
Printer Worksheet.
5. Next, create the NetWare Print Server: Press <Escape> and choose
"Print Server Information".
6. Press <Insert> and type the name of the print server. Use the
default name provided on the worksheet: NWIX_PSERVER.
7. Next, create a printer name: Choose the print server name you
created in step 6 and press <Enter>, then choose "Printer Server
Configuration" followed by "Printer Configuration".
8. Select slot number "0" for the printer (to match the default
configuration).
9. Type in a NetWare printer name for example: mpe_hostlp. The slot
numbers must match between NetWare and MPE, but the printer names
do not and are for description only.
10. For Type, press <Enter> and select: Remote Other/Unknown. The
other values are filled in automatically. Press <Escape> then yes
to save changes, then press <Escape> again.
11. Next, allocate the printer to a queue by choosing: "Queues
Serviced by Printer": Select the printer you created above (in
step 9).
12. Press <Insert> and from the list displayed, select the print queue
name you created above (in step 4).
Enter a priority (for NetWare) such as 1. (For more information,
see the Print Server manual.)
Press <Enter>. Press the <Escape> key to back up screens until
you are prompted to exit PCONSOLE, then highlight yes and press
enter to exit.
13. If you have additional printers to configure, follow the steps in
Configure Host Printers, using the host PSERVER named above,
NWIX_PSERVER (only one host PSERVER can be configured).
14. If you have finished configuring printers, go to the section,
Start Host Print Services.
