Step 7: Run the Migration Utility
After reviewing migration options, you are ready to run the migrate
utility. Follow the instructions for Full or Partial migration below.
CAUTION Once migration starts, it cannot be stopped. If you have a
large NetWare file system, allow sufficient time for it to
complete.
Run Migration Tool: Full
1. Log into your MPE system:
:hello manager.sys,netware
2. Make sure NetWare has been stopped:
:nw status
3. Run the migration utility:
a. Enter any options you have chosen on the command line:
:migrate "option1 option2"
b. Or, enter :migrate (no options)

6. When migration completes, the Main Menu is displayed. Type e to
exit.
A list of the volumes migrated is displayed to the screen and
output to the file volinfo.netware.sys. If you have only one
NetWare volume (SYS), you can proceed to Step 9. Reconfigure Host
Printers .
7. If your file system contains more than one NetWare volume, Print
out a copy of the volinfo.netware.sys file. Volume SYS is
automatically configured. You must use SCONSOLE to add the
additional volumes to the new bindery. Go to the heading labeled
Step 8: Add Volumes, to complete the migration process.
During Migration:.
What happens during migration:
* The tool calculates how much disk space the migration requires.
If disk space is low, it sets the purge flag to delete the old
files once they have been migrated to the new file system. See
the -n option in Table 5-4 if you want to keep the old files
on the system.
If your system does not have enough disk space, the migration tool
exits with the message: Unable to open filename. (There is not
enough space to create any new files.) Free up disk space on your
system before rerunning the migration tool.
* The trustee files and bindery files are migrated. (bindery files:
net$obj.sys, net$prop.sys, net$val.sys and spool.sys) Then, the
first volume migrated is the system volume (usually named SYS).
* Next, the tool migrates each volume in turn until complete.
Run Migration Tool: Partial
1. Log into your MPE system:
:hello manager.sys,netware
2. Make sure NetWare has been stopped. (Use nw status to verify.)
3. Run the migration utility:
a. Enter any options you have chosen on the command line:
:migrate "-option1 -option2"

NetWare volumes. The volumes are listed by number.
1. Enter the number listed for the next volume you want to migrate.
