Step 6: Determine Migration Options
The migration utility, MIGRATE, allows you to do a full migration which
migrates all volumes and the bindery files at once, or a partial
migration which migrates a single volume at a time You must migrate the
system (SYS or SYSVOL) volume first. Figure 5-1 shows the menu
options for the migration utility.
In addition, you can modify migration options using command line options,
or using the Menu options (before selecting a full or partial migration).
When to Use Full Migration
If you only have one NetWare volume, use full migration.
When to Use Partial Migration
If you have multiple volumes, and want to migrate them one at a time use
partial migration. If you decide not to migrate a particular volume of
data, use partial migration.

Command Line Options
The command line options are entered as follows:
:migrate "-option1 option2..."
For example, to select log to a file (l) and purge old files (p) you can
enter either:
:migrate "-lp" or,
:migrate "-l -p"
Migration Utility Options
Table 5-4 lists the command-line options you can use. Refer to the
section, "Migration Utilities" later in this chapter for more information
on migration options.

Menu Options
If you want to use the MIGRATE utility menus to select these options, do
the following before selecting full or partial migration:
1. Log into the system:
:hello manager.sys,netware
2. Make sure NetWare has been stopped:
:nw status
NWIXCTRL: Doing "NW STATUS"
NWIXCTRL: NetWare/iX version 3.11a is DOWN
3. Run the migration utility:
:migrate
4. From the Main menu, select:

5. The Options menu is displayed. To change an option, enter the
number of the option.
6. Return to the Main menu by typing r.
