RJE/V to RJE/XL Migration
Listed below are the step by step instructions to follow to migrate from
RJE/V to RJE/XL:
1. Configuration information previously found in the IOCONFIG on
RJE/V must now be configured in the NMMGR screens for RJE/XL.
_________________________________________________________________
NOTE All of these values will default correctly for a half duplex
dial line except for the PSI physical path, the transmission
speed, and phone numbers (if they are not specified in the
RJLINE command).
_________________________________________________________________
This information includes:
a. Linkname (see items 2 and 3 on the next page)
b. The physical path of the PSI card
c. Local ID sequence (if any)
d. Receive timeout
e. Local timeout
f. Connect timeout
g. Response timeout
h. Number of error retries
i. Transmission speed
j. Line type (dial or leased line)
k. Transmission mode (full or half duplex)
l. Phone numbers (if any)
m. Remote ID sequences (if any)
2. If RJE is being invoked using MPE JOBs and the DEV= parameter
specifies a number on the RJE/V system, one of the following must
be done:
a. The RJE link name must be configured in NMMGR in the form
RJEn, RJEnn or RJEnnn, where the n, nn, or nnn are the LDEV
numbers in the RJLINE command.
OR
b. The MPE JOBs that specify the RJLINE command must be altered
to use the actual link name configured in NMMGR for the DEV=
parameter.
_________________________________________________________________
NOTE If RJLINE is invoked without specifying DEV=number or name,
RJE will open any one of the RJE links configured in NMMGR.
Consult chapter 3 and chapter 4 for configuration details.
_________________________________________________________________
3. If RJE is being invoked from a session, the RJLINE command should
specify the linkname configured in the NMMGR screens for the DEV=
parameter.
4. Since the error codes returned by RJE/XL are not identical to
those returned by RJE/V, users using RJE user recovery procedures
should examine their procedures and modify them if necessary.
Because the majority of the error codes remain identical,
(especially the common link errors) this should not present
problems for most users. RJE/XL error codes appear in Appendix A.
