RJE/XL Node Manager's Guide
Appendix D RJE/V versus RJE/XL
The following is a list of differences between RJE/V and RJE/XL:
* X.21 is not supported in RJE/XL.
* Since SYSDUMP no longer exists on MPE XL, RJE XL link configuration
data is entered via NMMGR. Refer to Chapter 3, "Configuring Host
Systems to Include RJE/XL."
* RJE/XL generates fewer CS ERROR error codes than RJE/V. The error
codes section will explain the set generated by RJE/XL.
* The format of the trace entries have changed from RJE/V. The NMDUMP
program will now be used to format the trace instead of CSDUMP. Refer
to chapters 6 and 7.
* RJE/XL now supports the LINKCONTROL command for displaying status and
statistics and dynamically turning trace on and off. This command
replaces SHOWCOM in MPE V.
* RJE/XL is now part of the NMMAINT utility that displays the version
numbers of all the components of a particular subsystem. Use a parm
number of 37 to display RJE/XL's version numbers.
* On RJE/V, if the INP is configured as a dial-up line and an initial
linebid timeout occurs, an initial linebid fails or the inactivity
timer pops, the INP sends a DLE EOT and drops the link. On RJE/XL,
the PSI drops the link only after the local timeout pops.
* When using the RJLINE command on RJE/XL, the NODE and QUEUETIME
parameters are no longer valid since X.21 is not supported. Also,
since logical devices are no longer valid, if the DEV= parameter
specifies a number, it will be interpreted as an RJE link name,
RJExxx, where xxx is the number specified in the DEV= parameter.
* Although the TRACE=ON parameter syntax remains the same, only the
trace file name field will be used. The rest of the fields ALL,
WRAP, MASK, and numentries are ignored. The default trace file for
RJE/XL is NMTC####.PUB.SYS.
