MPE/iX 5.0 Release Strategy by Dave Snow Commercial Systems Division Marketing MPE/iX 5.0 is going to be delivered in two stages. A Limited Release version of MPE/iX 5.0 will be available in the first half of 1994 for those customers who are receiving new hardware platforms as well as for customers who desire many of the new enhancements that will be included in the release. By the third quarter of 1994, a General Release version of MPE/iX 5.0 in the form of a Platform Release will be made available to all HP 3000 customers who have purchased HP 3000 support contracts. As a reminder, a Platform Release provides an extremely stable release that is supported for an extended period of time while also allowing the easy receipt of specific new functionality, product enhancements and patches. MPE/iX 4.0 was the first Platform Release. Since the General Release of MPE/iX 5.0 will be a Platform Release, all customers who receive the earlier Limited Release will be expected to update to the General Release of MPE/iX 5.0 when it is available. So remember that MPE/iX 5.0 will be available as a limited release by the second quarter of 1994 and as a general Platform Release by the third quarter of 1994.
