SYNTAX>L[ANGUAGE][IS] {langnum } {langname} PARAMETERS
DISCUSSIONThe >LANGUAGE command causes SORT-MERGE/XL to sort keys of type CHARACTER according to the collating sequence of the language specified by the langnum or langname parameter. The Native Language Support (NLS) intrinsics and files must first be installed on the system before the >LANGUAGE command can be used. Refer to Appendix C of this manual, the Native Language Programmer's Guide, and the Intrinsics Reference Manual for additional information on the >LANGUAGE command. The >LANGUAGE command does not affect SORT-MERGE/XL messages, syntax, or prompts. EXAMPLESThe following examples show using the >LANGUAGE command and its options. >LANGUAGE IS SPANISHSpecifies Spanish as the native language. The Spanish language collating sequence is used. >LANG 5Specifies the native language identified as "5" in the system configuration. >L FRENCHSpecifies French as the native language whose collating sequence will be used.
