As the system manager, you can use the setup program to customize HP Easytime/iX. This program is optional. HP Easytime/iX arrives set up for you. You can use it as it is or change it to meet your particular needs.
This section explains how to use the setup program, including the following tasks:
starting the setup program
disabling and enabling functions
choosing a startup screen
canceling a startup screen
To start the setup program |

You need system manager capabilities to customize HP Easytime/iX with the setup program.
Log on to the system as MANAGER.SYS.
From the system prompt, type:
:RUN ETSETUP.PUB.SYS Return

The HP Easytime/iX Setup screen is displayed. The following figure illustrates the setup screen.

To disable a function |

When you receive HP Easytime/iX, all functions are enabled and any user can access them. The setup screen displays a list box containing all of the HP Easytime/iX functions.
You can disable any function that you do not want users to access.
Select one or more functions.
Press F2 A to open the Actions menu.

You can use the setup program at any time to enable functions that you have disabled.
Select one or more functions.
Press F2 A to open the Actions menu.
Press E for Enable Function.
To set backup defaults for scheduled backups |

With this task, you can specify a job to run immediately before a scheduled backup and a job to run immediately after a scheduled backup.
For example, you can run a job that deletes (aborts) active sessions and specific jobs before a scheduled backup. After the backup, you can run another job that restarts the jobs and processes that you stopped previously.
Press F2 A to open the Actions menu.
Press B for Set Backup Defaults.
A dialog box prompts you for more information.
Type the file name, group, and account of the job to start before the scheduled backup.
Use the Tab key to move from field to field.
Type the file name, group, and account of the job to start after the scheduled backup.
Press F5 {{OK}} to set the backup defaults.
The backup defaults that you selected are displayed on the HP Easytime/iX Setup screen.
To set the default for console messages and requests |

With HP Easytime/iX, you do not need a dedicated terminal to view and respond to console messages. You can monitor console messages from the Console Management screen within HP Easytime/iX.
You can display messages and requests on both the system console and in HP Easytime/iX, or in HP Easytime/iX only.
Press F2 A to open the Actions menu.
Press C for Set Console Defaults.
Select the option that you want.
An asterisk (*) marks the selected option.

If you choose to display messages on both the system console and in HP Easytime/iX, you will not be able to use the system console for any other application, including HP Easytime/iX.
Press F5 {{OK}} to set the console default.
The option that you selected is displayed on the HP Easytime/iX Setup screen.

HP Easytime/iX is configured to display the Main menu when started. You can change this to display a different screen, for example, Print File Management, when starting the program.
Select one function.
Press F2 A to open the Actions menu.
Press U for Use as Startup.
This screen is marked (Startup) on the HP Easytime/iX Setup screen.
To cancel a startup screen |

If you choose a screen as the startup screen for HP Easytime/iX, you can cancel it by enabling the function again.
Select the function marked (Startup).
Press F2 A to open the Actions menu.
Press E for Enable Function.
This screen is no longer the startup screen, and the Main menu will be used instead.
To save the setup defaults |

After you have completed customizing HP Easytime/iX, you must save the setup file.
Press F2 A to open the Actions menu.
Press S for Save Setup File.
To exit the setup program |

Press F8 {{Exit}} to exit the HP Easytime/iX Setup screen.
Press F5 {{Yes}} to confirm and exit.
