Hewlett-Packard's HP 3000 Series 9X8LX computer systems for the multiuser environment combines office computing with mainframe power. Typically, the system consists of the following components:
the main computer that fits comfortably alongside a desk or table
the external uninterruptible power system, also called UPS, that can provide up to
15 minutes of battery backup power to the computer system.
the system console used primarily by the system manager to perform system related tasks
the data communication and terminal controller, also called DTC16iX (J2062A), that enables
you to connect multiple terminals and printers to the system.
an optional cabinet containing additional disks and tape drives
various styles of printers conveniently located for easy access by several
users
terminals or PCs set up on each user's desktop and connected to the DTC
