Use PATCH to access, display, and/or modify a program file's object
code without recompiling the program. You can make simple changes to program
instructions or to global stack area variables on compatibility mode
programs.
PATCH requires the memory location of the target program symbols,
the beginning locations of each program unit, and the offsets for each
line of code from these locations. This data may be gathered in a number
of ways depending on the source language of the program.
PATCH supports four subcommands (D, M, DG, and MG) to display the
code segment contents, to modify the code segment contents, to display the
global area of the initial stack, and to modify the global area of the
initial stack. PATCH can bypass normal MPE/iX safeguards and modify
the contents of privileged program files.

 | CAUTION: PATCH bypasses normal MPE/iX safeguards and modifies the contents of privileged program files. It is, therefore, possible to corrupt system file(s) or the entire operating system. Hewlett-Packard is not responsible for modifications that you make to the operating system or system files. For more information, contact your Hewlett-Packard service representative. |
