The DTS shutdown capability is provided by the DTCCNTRL
command. It allows you to bring down the entire DTS subsystem and
includes the release of all TIO-related system resources. DTCCNTRL
requires that you have a minimum of System Manager (SM) capability.
This operation can only be done from the system console.
When combined with the DTS restart capability discussed in
the next section, you can resolve errors that may arise during Datacomm
Configurator (DCC) start-up without rebooting the HP 3000 host.
If you see DCC error messages, first fix any problems that caused
the DCC startup error and then run DTCCNTRL to shut down and restart
DTS. Refer to Appendix D for more information on DCC errors.

 |
 | NOTE: Issuing the DTCCNTRL command to perform
a DTS shutdown will result in the deletion of the entire DTS/TIO
subsystem from the system. No TIO users can use the system while
it is shut down. |
 |

 |
When DTS shutdown is invoked, all devices that are configured
by the DTS subsystem are scanned and DOWNed. If any device is found
that is logged on, spooled or owned by any process then the shutdown
will not continue and all DOWNed devices are returned to the UP
state. No active sessions or owned devices are affected. If no owned
or in use devices are found then the shutdown will proceed to delete
all DTS ldevs and release all DTS resources.
If desired DTS shutdown can be invoked with the "forced"
option. If the "forced" options is specified,
then any devices that are logged on, spooled or owned by any process
will be reset and the sessions aborted. The "forced"
option is specified on the command line when DTCCNTRL is invoked.
See the next section for the syntax used to invoke DTS shutdown.
Performing a DTS Shutdown |
 |
To perform a DTS shutdown, type the DTCCNTRL
command at the CI prompt either without specifying the desired shutdown
operation or by specifying it using the syntax outlined below:
DTS shutdown operation not specified:
:DTCCNTRL |
0 | exit |
1 | dynamically
implement DTS changes made in NMMGR |
2 | view status
of last DTS dynamic configuration |
3 | automatically
add a new DTC |
4 | shutdown

5 | restart

6 | manage/dynamically

For
help on these topics, select 7 at the prompt below. |

Select
one of the numbers above corresponding to the desired operation:
4 |
DTS shutdown operation specified:
:DTCCNTRL func=shutdown
or to invoke the "forced" option:
:DTCCNTRL func=shutdown, forced=y
 |
 | |
 |
 | CAUTION: When the "forced" option is invoked,
then all sessions logged on to TIO devices will be aborted and all
spooled TIO printers will be stopped. |

 | NOTE: To dynamically configure DTS changes, refer to the "Dynamic
Configuration" section earlier in this chapter. To automatically
add/configure a host-based managed DTC to DTS without needing to
specify detailed configuration information such as DTC cards/boards
and ldevs, refer to Chapter 3 “Automatic Configuration of DTCs”
To manage/dynamically configure host-based X.25 links, refer to
the Configuring and Managing Host-Based X.25 Links
manual. |
