Determines if the connection to the network is functioning
properly. This test is executed only if the SNP is not started.
Description |
 |
Determines if the network is functioning properly by testing
the connection between an SNP and the network. The test tries to
send and receive data from the network. To do this, a VC is opened
with a destination address on the local side. The correct X.25 address
must be configured in the Level 3 Configuration screen in NMMGR.
Additionally, this address must be entered as the last parameter
of the SNP network loopback command. This test is executed only
if X.25 is not started on this SNP (X25 Level 1, 2, and 3).
All loopback tests are disruptive in the sense they will abort
any existing VC connections on that SNP. Other SNPs in the DTC will
not be effected.
When the subcommand is entered the following question is asked:
Do you want to stop looping if an error is found (yes/no)?
|
If you answer yes, the loopback tests will stop if an error
is encountered. The following is then printed on the terminal:
Please connect and make ready an X.25 network (power on, X.25 line correctly configured, etc.) connection to the SNP card, before answering the "How many times?" question.
|
How many times do you want to repeat this operation?
|
Enter the number of times you want to run this diagnostic
function. Enter a number between 1 and 65535. The following is then
printed on the terminal:
Type CONTROL - Y to stop the looping.
|
You can use subsystem break (normally [CTRL]-Y
to stop the diagnostic at any time. The diagnostics prompt will
be printed and you will be allowed to enter another subcommand.
If TermDSM knows that this test has failed, an error message
will be printed listing the reason for the failure and how many
milliseconds the test ran before failing. The diagnostics prompt
will be printed and you will be allowed to enter another subcommand.
