Product Overview
HP Predictive Support provides hardware support and helps increase the uptime
of your systems by monitoring system memory and disk/tape drives.
When the HP Predictive Support software detects a potential problem, it sends
a message to the HP Response Center. The Response Center portion of the system
screens the data and forwards problems requiring further analysis to a
Response Center Engineer. If action is needed at your site, the Response
Center Engineer and the account Customer Engineer will work with you until the
problem is resolved.
This proactive hardware support is provided as part of the HP Hardware Support
Agreement.
Predictive Support Understands the Year 2000
The Predictive Support software has been modified to correctly handle dates in
the Year 2000 including correctly displaying the dates as appropriate and
being able to understand code words that expire in the year 2000 or beyond.
Upgrading Predictive Support Software
The HP Predictive Support software is upgraded each time you install a new
version of the MPE Operating System. The Predictive Support Monitor (PSMON)
runs as a system process so this program file and its message catalog file is
on the SLT. The rest of the files needed to make up the Predictive Support
software is on the FOS tape and is automatically updated by using the
AUTOINST process of updating the operating system software.
