COMMUNICATOR 3000/XL XL RELEASE 2.1
Response Time Added to HP GLANCE/XL
by Rex Backman
Application Support Division
This version of HPGLANCE/XL, the interactive real-time performance
monitoring tool, now includes response time metrics. HP GLANCE/XL now
provides response time information in its Global, Job/Session, and
Process screens. System Managers, Operations personnel, and Application
Programmers who are already aware of HP GLANCE/XL ease-of-use will find
that the response time metrics provide added value to their diagnostic
needs.
RESPONSE TIME
While in the Global or Job/Session screen of HP GLANCE/XL, the response
time metric will be presented for interesting processes during the
current interval. To allow for this metric to be shown, the memory field
for each interesting process has been replaced with the aforementioned
response time field. The Process screen in HP GLANCE/XL retains the
process memory field as in previous versions and adds in the new response
time field.
GLANCERESP JCW
HP GLANCE/XL limits the data it presents by displaying only processes
that are "interesting." An interesting process is one that exceeds a user
defined threshold as defined via the standard HP GLANCE/XL JCWs or via
the "V" command in HP GLANCE/XL. The new JCW "GLANCERESP" can now be set
to highlight the response time field if it exceeds the user defined
value. Utilizing the GLANCERESP JCW allows for improved monitoring of
response time to insure that system performance is meeting expectations.
