Native Mode Source Code Must Be Recompiled
by Jon Henderson--Information Technology Group
Due to changes in system intrinsics, users upgrading to release A.01.10
MUST recompile all Native Mode programs. Recompiling your programs,
regardless of the source language, will provide you with two substantial
benefits:
INTRINSIC CALLING EFFICIENCY
* Improvements have been made in the method by which intrinsics in the
NL are accessed. While these improvements will provide faster
intrinsic access and execution, erroneous information could be passed
to the intrinsics if programs are not recompiled.
* Since all the compilers use a common intrinsic-access methodology,
recompilation will suffice for any source program.
IMPROVED SECURITY
* In cooperation with the Operating System, the compilers have changed
certain code sequences to more fully take advantage of the MPE XL
ring-protection scheme. This means that certain programs, which ran
on earlier versions of MPE XL, will no longer load.
* Once again, recompilation alone is all that is needed.
