Chapter 2 Familiarizing Yourself With Your Computer
Hardware Overview
Hewlett-Packard's HP 3000 Series 9X8LX computer systems for the multiuser
environment combines office computing with mainframe power. Typically,
the system consists of the following components:
* the main computer that fits comfortably alongside a desk or table
* the external uninterruptible power system, also called UPS, that
can provide up to 15 minutes of battery backup power to the
computer system.
* the system console used primarily by the system manager to perform
system related tasks
* the data communication and terminal controller, also called
DTC16iX (J2062A), that enables you to connect multiple terminals
and printers to the system.
* an optional cabinet containing additional disks and tape drives
* various styles of printers conveniently located for easy access by
several users
* terminals or PCs set up on each user's desktop and connected to
the DTC
