HP CD Extensions for MPE/iX Installation and Administration Guide

Hardware and Software Requirements 

You need the following hardware and software to install and run HP CD
extensions: 

   *   An HP 3000 with one or more CD-ROM drives 

       The CD-ROM drive must be a Toshiba XM-3401TX or equivalent, such
       as:

          *   HP C3560U CD-ROM SCSI expansion upgrade kit

          *   HP A3086A CD-ROM for integrated 9x7 SPUs

          *   HP A1999A external SCSI CD-ROM drive (supported but no
              longer available for purchase)

          *   HP 3000 9x7 or better wtih 32 MB RAM 

   *   MPE/iX 5.0 configured for TCP/IP 

   *   A 386 PC or higher 

   *   52 KB of conventional memory required for the HP CD extensions
       TSRs (Terminate-and-Stay-Resident programs) 

   *   DOS 5.0 or 6.0 

   *   Microsoft CD-ROM Extensions 2.22 (included with the HP CD
       extensions client software and with DOS 6.0)

   *   One of the following network environments: 

          *   LAN Manager 2.1 or 2.2 with TCP/IP

          *   HP PC/Arpa NS C.00.00

          *   Novell NetWare version 3.11 or 4.0 with HP PC/Arpa NS
              C.00.00 or WRQ Connection 3000 Version 2.01

   *   A CD-ROM disk formatted to the ISO-9660 or High Sierra Group (HSG)
       specifications 

   *   HP CD extensions client software (P/N B3683AA)

If you are running HP LaserROM for Microsoft Windows, you will also need
Microsoft Windows 3.1 and at least 4 MB of memory. 


NOTE HP CD extensions do not work with Windows Sockets (WINSOCK), because MSCDEX and the HP CD extensions device driver must be loaded before Microsoft Windows.
