Additional Help
If you need further help, contact your Hewlett-Packard support
representative. You may be asked to provide the following kinds of
information:
Version Numbers.
If you need to know the version number of MPE/iX that is currently
running, type SHOWME at the MPE/iX prompt.
If you need to know the version number of Access SQL/iX that is installed
on your HP 3000, run the server process IASQLDAD.PPC.SYS at the MPE/iX
prompt. The version number appears when the server process executes.
Environment.
You may be asked for the following information about the environment in
which Access SQL/iX is running:
* Type and configuration of the HP 3000
* Number of PC users connected directly to the HP 3000
* Number of PC users connected on a LAN
* Number of configured users and active users
* For a PC problem, type and configuration of PC and how it is
connected
Security.
You may be asked for the following information related to security:
* The MPE/iX, ALLBASE/SQL, ORACLE, or INGRES security in effect.
* The accounting structure in effect
Problem Details.
Keep track of details pertaining to your problem:
* If you can reproduce the problem, write down the details of the
user actions that will reproduce it.
* If the problem is intermittent, write down the actions that
preceded it.
* Note the type of software in use when the problem occurred (Access
SQL/iX, Information Access, ALLBASE/SQL, and so on).
* Note the function being performed and the screens displayed.
* Write down any error messages and/or numbers that appeared.
* Print out any spoolfiles that contain error information. These
spoolfiles, if they exist, are designated as IASVRERR. If the
spoolfiles cannot be created, time-stamped errors are written to
IASQLERR.PPC.SYS.
* If IADDxxxx and/or IASNxxxx files were generated in the logon MPE
group, rename them and print out the stack trace information they
contain.
* If you are using Information Access, use the Troubleshooting
information in the Help facility to activate logging.
* Look in the SMSG file in your logon MPE group for warnings and
fatal errors. This file is cumulative and errors are
time-stamped. (The default size of the SMSG file is 100,000
records and no errors are logged if the file is full. We
recommend that you build the SMSG file with more than 100,000
records, rather than purging the file when it is full.)
* If you are using INGRES tables, there is a configuration file
named IASOLIDC.PPC.SYS residing in your HP 3000. When you contact
your HP representative for assistance, you may be instructed to
change some of the data in that file.
