Information Access SQL/iX

Installing the Product 

You install Access SQL/iX with AUTOINST, using the instructions in the
appropriate release documentation.  AUTOINST installs the required
version of MPE/iX and the subsystem tape containing all Access SQL/iX
files.

   1.  Log on as MANAGER.SYS,INSTALL

   2.  For a new MPE/iX system or a new version of MPE/iX, run AUTOINST
       by typing:

            AUTOINST

       Follow the instructions for installing the required version of
       MPE/iX and the complete subsystem tape containing Access SQL/iX
       (option 4). 

   3.  For a system that already has the correct version of MPE/iX, run
       AUTOINST by typing:

            AUTOINST

       Follow the instructions for installing only the subsystem tape
       containing Access SQL/iX (option 5).

   4.  Continue the installation by following the steps in the
       appropriate release documentation.

   5.  When AUTOINST has successfully completed, bring up the system.

   6.  If you are using ALLBASE/SQL or ORACLE, do the following:

          a.  Shut down the network using NSCONTROL and NETCONTROL.

          b.  Stream the job JCONFJOB.NET.SYS to build the network
              configuration file.

          c.  When JCONFJOB.NET.SYS is finished, restart the network
              using NSCONTROL and NETCONTROL.

   7.  If you are using INGRES, do the following:

          a.  If necessary, add passwords to the job JIASOLID.PPC.SYS.

          b.  Stream JIASOLID.PPC.SYS.

              JIASOLID.PPC.SYS remains active to allow access to INGRES
              data.

Access SQL/iX installation is complete.  You can now verify that the
installation is correct.
