ALLBASE/Replicate User's Guide
Reasons for Using ALLBASE/Replicate
You may use ALLBASE/Replicate when you want to do the following:
* Maintain a standby DBEnvironment that can become the primary
DBEnvironment in the event the master DBEnvironment becomes
unavailable.
* Improve the performance of the primary DBEnvironment by offloading
appropriate read-only applications to one or more secondary
"duplicate" systems running in the background.
* Perform remote database backups from a central location on distant
systems being run in an operatorless environment.
* Maintain a central, unified database at one location that has
local read-only access to data maintained in one or more databases
at remote locations. This unified database provides global data
for purposes such as management reporting or accounting.
* Provide a dependable method for recovery of the DBEnvironment as
part of your disaster recovery planning.
In your individual environment, you may see many other uses for
ALLBASE/Replicate that expand upon what is listed above.
