Chapter 5 Hints and Suggestions Introduction This chapter contains hints, suggestions, and cautions related to specific master/slave configurations. It includes some general information that is applicable to any of the configurations under discussion. The most important configuration is the replication of an entire DBEnvironment to a dedicated slave. When you understand the issues related to this configuration, only small differences remain for the other configurations. Therefore, the replication of a DBEnvironment to a dedicated slave is discussed in detail in the first section of this chapter. The remaining sections, each describing one of the remaining configurations, only cover significant differences from the first configuration. The final section of this chapter explains how to convert an existing DBEnvironment to an ALLBASE/Replicate DBEnvironment and set up the soft resynchronization for it. These are the configurations: * Entire DBEnvironment to dedicated slave. * Subset of a DBEnvironment to a dedicated slave. * Multiple masters to one slave. * Two-way replication. * Conversion of an existing DBEnvironment for ALLBASE/Replicate.
