Chapter 2 Communication The Communication Module provides the ability to access, process, and create messages or portions thereof. It provides the ability to communicate through a Message Control System(MCS)with local and remote communication devices. For MF only: Support in this chapter that is marked as ANS85 is also sensitive to the COMS85 directive. See your COBOL System Reference for details of how or whether the Communication Module is supported at run time. For XOPEN only: Although it is a part of the standard COBOL definition, this module is explicitly excluded from the X/Open COBOL language definitions and should not be used in a conforming X/Open COBOL source program .
