Chapter 1 Collecting Data With HP SPT/XL
Introduction
HP Software Performance Tuner (SPT/XL) is a software tool that monitors
and reports system resources used by MPE XL native mode application
programs.
The HP SPT/XL software has two parts:
* The collection software collects performance data on an application
program during execution. This data includes CPU time, transaction
response times, transaction counts, and use of MPE XL intrinsics.
You can specify the length of time during which data is collected,
and you can begin to collect data after an application is already
executing. The collected data is stored in an HP SPT/XL logfile for
later analysis.
* The analysis software reports the collected data, to allow you to
profile the program and analyze its performance.
