HP RXForecast Users Manual for MPE Systems

Using Seasonality

It is recommended that you keep all seasonality boxes checked on the
RXForecast Options command dialog box. As long as Auto Seasonality is
enabled, HP RXForecast will calculate seasonality and include it if the
T-Probability of one parameter is greater than 90 percent.

An important exception to this rule of thumb occurs when you use the
Business Units trending method. As explained in "Seasonality and the
Business Unit File" , when you use Business Units, you want to turn
off any seasonality levels equal to or higher than the summarization
implicit in the business unit file.

Additionally, you might want to have seasonality disabled if you prefer
looking at a forecast and discovering the seasonality for yourself.
