Modifying a Shared Device
Modifying an existing shared device is quite similar to the steps
described in this chapter about setting up new devices. You can modify
the password, formatter, environment file, output priority, and number of
copies.
To modify an existing share of a device:
1. Access the RESMGR main screen, then choose Share f2.
2. Choose Modify Share f3.
RESMGR prompts:
Modify DISC or DEVICE (default=DISC)?
3. Enter DEVICE to modify a device.
RESMGR prompts:
Sharename ('//' to cancel)?
4. Enter the sharename of the shared device whose parameters you are
changing.
RESMGR prompts:
Password?
5. Enter the current password, if any. Entering an invalid password
prevents you from modifying the device.
RESMGR prompts:
New password?
6. If you don't want to change passwords, you must enter the old
password. Otherwise, enter a new password. If you just press
Enter, you will have no password at all on this device. Do not
use invalid characters in the password ( [ ] \ / * ).
RESMGR prompts:
MPE LDEV number or device class ('//' to cancel)?
7. Enter an LDEV number or device class to be associated with the
sharename. If you don't want to change LDEV number or device
class already associated with this sharename, you must enter the
old LDEV number or classname.
RESMGR prompts:
Do you want to customize your printer configuration (Y/N)?
8. Enter Y if you want to modify the formatter, environment file,
number of copies, or output priority associated with this device.
If you have already customized your printer configuration, you
must reenter the information. Otherwise, your printer will be
configured with the default values. You will then see various
prompts allowing you to change the existing configuration.
Enter N if you do not want to modify any of this information.
You have finished modifying the shared device parameters.
