Checking the Status of the NetBIOS Service Monitor
If PCs cannot get a valid connection, and the HP 3000 console does not
display any attempted connections, check to see of the NBMON.PPC.SYS
monitor is running.
Run PPCDIAGC.PPC.SYS and enter the following command:
SHOWNBSTATUS
If the NBMON process is running, SHOWNBSTATUS will display the following
message:
NBMON.PPC.SYS has been started.
If the NBMON process is not running, the following message will be
displayed:
NBMON.PPC.SYS has not been started.
Check the console for NBMON error messages and refer to the "Error
Messages" section as needed.
Conversion Program Problems
If an error is encountered in the conversion process, the entry in error
is highlighted in the $STDLIST listing generated by JROOTCON.PPC.SYS. The
new disc is created without the erroneous files.
Errors that occur are the result of previous disc corruption. They
generally fall in to two categories: files with no directories and
missing data files.
* To recover a file with no directory:
1. Run the CHKDISC Disc Validation Utility. This utility,
included in Resource Sharing's host diagnostics, detects
and corrects such errors. See Chapter 7 for information on
running this utility.
2. If CHKDISC does not correct the error, use the RESMGR file
recovery functions on the latest valid MPE backup tape.
The files are automatically converted by these RESMGR
functions. Refer to Chapter 11 for details on running
RESMGR BACKUP and RECOVERY.
* To recover a missing data file, use the RESMGR file recovery
functions on the prior MPE backup tapes (see step 2 above).
