HP Resource Sharing for MPE/iX

USE

The USE command establishes a connection to a specified shared disc by
equating a drive letter to a shared disc sharename. For shared discs,
each USE associates a drive letter in the range A to Z. You can connect
up to 26 shared discs in this manner.

Abbreviation: None

USE drive: [\\nodename]\sharename [password] [/D]

drive: Letter (A - Z) you specify to connect a shared disc. We
recommend that you don't use the letters A - D, so that
you won't confuse your shared discs with your PC drives.

nodename Nodename (servername.domain.organization) where the
shared disc resides. Because the node name is provided
for your information only and is not used by DISCMGR,
you can enter only the server name or omit this
parameter altogether. You can only connect to a shared
disc on the HP 3000 to which you are currently logged
                 on.

\sharename Valid network sharename for a shared disc created with
                 RESMGR.

password Valid network password for accessing a shared disc,
                 created with RESMGR.

/D Delete command, used to delete the connection to the
                 shared disc.

Examining Connections

To display all your current connections to shared discs, type USE by
itself. Here's a typical display resulting from such a USE command:

     DISCMGR> USE
     Drive Disc
     -----------------------------------------
       J:\MYDISC
       P:\LIBRARY
       Q:\FINANCE

Deleting Connections

To delete your connection to a specific shared disc, enter a USE command
in the format:

     USE drive: /D

For example, this command deletes your connection to drive J:

     USE J: /D

To delete all shared disc connections, enter:

     USE * /D

NOTE When you exit from DISCMGR, all shared disc and device connections are removed automatically.
Connecting to a Shared Disc in Another Account or Group If you have System Manager (SM) capabilities, you can connect to a shared disc outside of your account without knowing the sharename or password. Simply enter a USE command in the format: USE drive: MPE:\account\group For example, this command connects drive J: to the shared disc in account SMITH, group JOE: USE J: MPE:\SMITH\JOE If you have Account Manager (AM) capabilities, you can connect to a shared disc in any group in your account without knowing the sharename or password, in the same manner as described above.
