Information Access Server: Database Administration
Other Ways to Tune Performance
Two additional ways to tune performance are discussed below.
Using Access PC Command Files
If you have any PC users who routinely run through the same sequence of
Access PC operations on Remote Tables:
* They can create and activate a command file on their PC. (For
details, see the Using Information Access PC manual.)
* They (or you) can create and activate a command file on the HP
3000 using the Host Batch Facility. (For details, see Chapter 13,
"Batch Processing with Command Files.")
This command file can then be activated while the user attends to
other business. Or, the command file can be set to run at the end
of the day so that the results are ready before the next business
day begins.
Using the MPE Priority Queue
User definitions allow you to specify at what MPE priority the user's
server process will run. While the CS queue is the default, you can
assign users working on less critical applications or users who run
strictly from a command file, to the DS or ES queue. This will help
improve the performance for your other users.
