Recommended Configuration Values for MPE/V

Based on the above MPE system resource information, we recommend the
following MPE configuration settings be evaluated to obtain maximum
performance of Access Server on the MPE/V system. Once the software has
been installed, tables have been configured, and the product is in use,
we recommend that you use OPT/3000 to monitor the use of system
resources. (For a detailed description of each of these items, see the
System Operation and Resource Management Reference Manual.)

These footnotes correspond to the information above:

(1) See Table 4-1.

(2) Set to system maximum of 4,096.

(3) See Table 4-1. Access Server creates two processes for each
currently active PC user. A Command Interpreter (CI) process is also
created for each PC user.

(4) Might need to be increased due to the additional amount of work added
to the system processing Access Server.

(5) The note NOT DIRECTLY USED means that the product does not directly
use these MPE resources. However, this does not mean that the configured
values for these resources will not need to be increased according to the
number of Access Server users and the other applications being used on
the HP 3000 system. (For further information on any MPE configuration
setting, see the System Operation and Resource Management Reference
Manual.)

(6) Might need to be increased if new users are added just to use the
Access Server product.

(7) Set to system maximum of 31,232.

(8) Set to system maximum of 32,764.

(9) Set to at least 28. System maximum is 255.

(10) Set to system maximum of 16,384.

(11) Set to a minimum of 63.

NOTE Recommendations for configuration values are not necessary for MPE/XL.
