Information Access Server: System Management
Installing IMSAM
To use IMSAM keyed access to IMAGE databases, you must install the
OMNIDEX Information Management System's (IMS) segments in the appropriate
places. These segments are for Omnidex keyword retrieval and IMSAM.
The Access Server programs HDSP.PPC.SYS and ADMIN.PPC.SYS communicate
with the OMNIDEX IMSAM intrinsics DBIOPEN, DBIINFO,DBIGET, and DBICLOSE.
On MPE/V, these intrinsics are called via the Call Conversion procedures
provided by OMNIDEX. On MPE/XL, these intrinsics are called directly from
the OMNIDEX Native Mode Intrinsics Library XL.PUB.DISC.
Installing IMSAM
To install the IMSAM segments on MPE/V:.
1. Install the OMNIDEX IMS product.
2. Install the segments in USL.PUB.DISC into SL.PUB.SYS. USL.PUB.DISC
contains the OMNIDEX IMS Intrinsics segments. These segments
contain all the Omnidex and IMSAM instrinsics that are called by
procedures in the Call Conversion segments.
For instructions on how to install these segments into
SL.PUB.SYS, see "The Intrinsics Segmented Library" in Chapter 7,
"Programming," in the OMNIDEX Information Management System
Reference Manual.
3. If you do not have the Resource Sharing product, copy SL.CC.DISC
to SL.PPC.SYS. SL.CC.DISC contains the Call Conversion segments.
4. If you have the Resource Sharing product, then SL.PPC.SYS already
exists and you need to install the segments in USL.CC.DISC into
SL.PPC.SYS. (The same segments reside in USL.CC.DISC and
SL.CC.DISC.) Install the Call Conversion segments from USL.CC.DISC
into SL.PPC.SYS. Instructions on how to install these segments are
found in "The Call Conversion Segmented Library" section in
Chapter 7, "Programming," in the OMNIDEX Information Management
System Reference Manual.
NOTE On MPE/V, remember to always run ADMIN.PPC.SYS with LIB=G.
To install the IMSAM segments on MPE/XL:.
1. Install the OMNIDEX IMS product (version 2.04).
2. Make sure that the OMNIDEX Native Mode Intrinsic Library, which
contains the instrinsics segments, is located in XL.PUB.DISC.
These two steps are all that is needed for installation on MPE/XL. Access
Server makes dynamic calls to the appropriate IMSAM intrinsics.
