HP Predictive Support CE Guide For HP 3000 Series 900

Messages NOT In This Appendix

Messages that are NOT explained in this appendix include:

   * Self-explanatory messages in psconfig, such as the following
message when an invalid response is given to the system model
number prompt at the "Configure Customer Information" Menu:

            Invalid response; expecting 4-8 alphanumeric
characters, usually in AnnnnA[AA] or nnnnA[AA]
            format, for system model #

   * Event messages, because they require further examination by the HP
       Response Center.

   * Messages written exclusively to the HP Predictive Support run log,
PSRNLOGD, and the psconfig run log, PSUILOGD, because they are for
audit detail purposes only. (They provide information when
required to troubleshoot a problem, and generally require the HP
       Response Center to interpret them.)

   * Low Priority Machine Checks (LPMCs). HP 3000 series 900 systems
keep track of any serious I/O internal errors that may occur. HP
Predictive Support tracks LPMCs for trending, correlation, and
analysis, very much like other messages are tracked by LOGSCAN.
The errors can be used for the early detection of potential system
       problems or imminent failures.
