HP Predictive Support CE Guide For HP 3000 Series 900
Datacomm Troubleshooting Procedure No. 7
Probable Cause of File Transfer Error: Read or write XFR error.
Transfer From Customer Site to HP Response Center
When an error occurs on file transfer activity, either of these messages
appears in PSRNLOGD:
**** PREDICTIVE transferring out file PSDCFILE.PRED.SYS ****
**** PREDICTIVE transferring out file PSCODERD.PRED.SYS ****
READ Errors.
A read error indicates that the file may be corrupt. An FSERR message
accompanies the read error.
* Resolve the conditions of the FSERR message. (You may wish to
refer to the section, "FSERR Messages," in Appendix F, or the MPE
System Operation and Resource Management Manual.)
* Initiate a transfer normal.
* If the problem recurs after three attempts to retransmit via
transfer normal, PSDCFILE or PSCODERD may be corrupt and should be
purged.
* After purging the file, allow HP Predictive Support to resume its
normal schedule (a new file will be created).
NOTE Purging PSDCFILE results in unavoidable data loss. Purging
PSCODERD results in no data loss; it will be recreated.
WRITE Errors.
A write error on a file from HP Predictive Support indicates that a
problem is occurring on the HP Response Center's system.
* Initiate a transfer normal.
* If transmissions from three consecutive transfer normal attempts
are unsuccessful due to the write error, contact the HP Response
Center.
Transfer FROM HP Response Center to Customer Site
Either of the following messages will appear in PSRNLOGD:
**** PSUXFRDP transferring in file PSCODEWD.PRED.SYS ****
**** PSUXFRDP transferring in file Xnnnnnnn.PRED.SYS ****
NOTE PSCODEWD is a code word. Xnnnnnnn is a ruleset update file. The
"n's" are replaced by numbers, identifying the type and version of
the ruleset file being transmitted.
READ Errors.
A read error on a file from the HP Response Center indicates a problem at
the HP Response Center. Follow the same procedures given for a WRITE
error on a file from HP Predictive Support.
WRITE Errors.
A write error on a file from the HP Response Center indicates a problem
on the customer system.
* Resolve the conditions of the FSERR message that accompanies the
write error. (See the "FSERR Messages" section in Appendix F if
additional instructions are required.)
* Initiate a transfer normal.
* If three consecutive attempts to retransmit fail due to the write
error, contact the HP Response Center.
