Batch File Security

To protect embedded passwords, you can use the BSCV utility in the HP
LaserRX/MPE subdirectory to encrypt both basic serial and batch interface
command files. This is especially desirable if you use basic serial
command files (for example, to log on at 19200 baud or interact with a
data switch). For details, see Using Basic Serial Connection Files,
which was shipped with the HP LaserRX/MPE package.

You must provide a password in order to decrypt the file using BSCV.EXE.
You can first create a non-encrypted copy of the file without logon
passwords.

The following is an example of using the BSCV utility to encrypt:

     C:\LASERRX> bscv encrypt drawsys1.bic *rxpass

Notes The asterisk (*) as the first character of the password allows the file to be executed without having to provide the password in the command line. Anyone who knows the password can decrypt the batch interface command file and gain access to the logon passwords. You do not need to provide the password to HP LaserRX/MPE; it automatically decrypts these files when they are read.
