8.  System Problems 

For problems with the FTP monitor process:

   *   If the error received is SOCKERR 16 check that a LOOP type NI has
       been started.

   *   Check that the FTP monitor process is running.  Issue the SHOWJOB
       command.  The  FTPMON,FTP.SYS job must be executing (EXEC).

   *   Cannot start the jobstream or it fails.  Check the following:

          *   The RPM network service must be active.  RPM and RPML must
              show YES in the started column when you issue an  NSCONTROL
              STATUS=SERVICES command.

          *   The transport must be up, and the NIs active:  issue a
              NETCONTROL NI= niname ;STATUS for each configured NI. Check
              that the configured LAN, any X.25 NIs, and LOOP type NIs
              are active.

          *   Check the log file, FTPLOG.ARPA.SYS, for errors.  FTP
              errors are documented in Appendix A in this manual.  For
              other networking errors, refer to the NS3000/XL Error 
              Messages Reference Manual.
