Interactive or Programmatic Problems
The first step in investigating interactive or programmatic problems is
to examine any error message returned. If you have received a specific
error message, find it in the NS3000/iX Error Messages Reference Manual
and take the action recommended. Most error messages are easily
understood by the user or programmer, although some of the explanations
refer to internal procedures comprehensible only to qualified HP
representatives. Users are not expected to understand these
explanations, but they should take the actions listed.
Program Errors
If the user is using any of the programmatic capabilities of NS3000/iX
and an intrinsic completes with an error, the recovery procedure depends
upon the intrinsic. How you check for the error code depends on which
service you are using.
* If a NetIPC intrinsic was issued that received a condition code
indicating an error, use the IPCCHECK intrinsic to obtain
additional details. Always check for the PM error code; this is
essential to identify the cause if the network transport is unable
to complete a request.
* If a file system intrinsic was issued that received a condition
code indicating an I/O error occurred, use the FCHECK intrinsic to
obtain additional details.
