Chapter 8 Abbreviations An HP Desk abbreviation is a name for a single command or command string which can be performed simply by typing the name of the abbreviation. They can be used to simplify the execution of what might otherwise be complex one-line commands, and can be set up to suit individuals' or specific capability groups' particular needs. Abbreviations can be issued by users, in exactly the same way as HP Desk commands. They can even be placed on a function key for extra usability (see Chapter 3 ).
