HP DeskManager Customization
Chapter 3 Tailoring the Function Keys
As users progress through the user interface of HP Desk, they move from
one environment to another. For example, when a user enters the In Tray
they are in one environment; then when they open a message they are in
another; and by hitting the SUSPEND key, they are taken into another
environment. For each of these environments a unique set of function
keys is defined.
These function keys (or softkeys) can be customized. This feature can be
used for a number of reasons:
* Tailoring the function key set is a useful way to guide
inexperienced users by presenting them with the most likely
commands at any particular point.
* For experienced users, putting commonly used commands or scripts
on function keys can enable them to speed up their use of HP Desk.
* User access to certain areas or features of HP Desk can be
restricted.
* Special features can be made available to all or particular groups
of users from the function keys.
