Compressed Statistics Files
Each time the Maintenance (Mailmaint) is run, the Statistics
File Compression Program may optionally be run. The changes
necessary to allow this are described in the maintenance job file
MAILMNT2.MAILJOB.HPOFFICE. A number of files are generated as a result.
HP Desk then has its own means of interpreting the data in these files,
and can produce a series of additional system Network Statistics reports.
However, you may wish to write a program of your own to analyze the data
produced. The files that are generated are:
* User Statistics File
* User Mail Statistics File
* User Remote Statistics File
* Outgoing Node Statistics File
* Incoming Node Statistics File
* Computer Statistics File
* Program Availability Statistics File
These files are appended to each time statistics compression occurs. The
layout and content of these files enables you to write applications to
report or manipulate the results as desired. The information produced
supplements the standard reporting information. It may be desirable that
these files are sorted in some way before they are reported upon, and the
simple file formats used make this easier. It is also feasible to merge
similar files produced on several computers to provide statistics reports
for the network.
The data contained in these files is described in the following sections.
User Statistics File Record Format
There is one record for each HP Desk user on the local computer.
