Checking the Media Status
You can display status information on the magneto-optical drives and on
each disk surface currently loaded by using the STATUS command of MOUTIL.
To verify the status of the media:
1. Run MOUTIL by entering MOUTIL at the system prompt. For example:
:MOUTIL
2. Enter the STATUS command at the MOUTIL prompt. For example:
moutil: STATUS LDEV=101
The status display identifies the volume set names and media names of
each disk surface currently loaded in each storage slot. The status
information is displayed in the format illustrated in Figure 2-5 . If
media has been pre-erased by the SCRATCH or INITMO commands, the notation
"pre-erased" will also be displayed.
A media storage slot may be labeled Occupied with Unknown Media under the
following conditions:
1. Media currently occupies a previously empty media storage slot.
2. Media has not been removed from a media storage slot which was
previously released with the UNLOAD command.
NOTE The STATUS command displays what is currently in the media manager
software table. If you have loaded or unloaded media and have not
synchronized the software table, the status display will not be
valid.
If the STATUS command is entered while the software tables are
being synchronized, the following message will precede the status
display:
*Note: The Optical Disk Library System is currently being synchronized.
*Note: The following status information may not be current.
