Loading and Unloading the Disks
Disks are loaded and unloaded through the mailslot of the Model 20GB/A
device.
NOTE In order to run MOUTIL, you must have OP (System Supervisor) or SM
(System Manager) capability or be logged on as MANAGER.SYS.
Loading the Disks
Before loading the disk cartridge, ensure that it is removed from the
clear plastic storage box or sleeve and is properly labeled. When the
Model 20GB/A is switched on and in the READY state, perform the following
steps:
1. Run MOUTIL by entering MOUTIL at the system prompt. For example:
:MOUTIL
2. Unlock the mailslot using the LOAD command of MOUTIL. You must
specify the logical device number (ldev) of the magneto-optical
drive whose mailslot should be unlocked.
moutil: LOAD LDEV=102
3. Put the disk in the mailslot.
* Side A faces up on the deskside configuration, left on the
rack configuration (see Figure 2-3 and Figure 2-4
for proper orientation).
* The metal shutter goes in first.

NOTE When loading a disk you should take care to insert it into
the mailslot correctly. If you don't insert it fully, you
could see an EMPTY message on the display. If this happens,
press CANCEL and try inserting the disk again.

_________________________________________________________________
CAUTION Load disks into slots 1 through 32 only. Do not load
disks into the drives or mailslot. If all 32 slots are
full, loading a disk into drive 1, drive 2, or the
mailslot will result in a jam.
_________________________________________________________________
6. Once your choice is displayed, press ENTER. As the picker moves
the disk from the mailslot to its slot destination, the LOAD
indicator blinks and SLOT ## displays, where ## is the actual
number of the slot in which the disk is loaded.
After the picker moves the disk from the mailslot and puts it in
the chosen slot, the display returns to READY.
Additional disks can be loaded by repeating steps 3 through 5.
7. After you are through loading disks, lock the mailslot using the
LOCK command of MOUTIL:
moutil: LOCK LDEV=102
_________________________________________________________________
NOTE Whenever you load or unload disks, you must synchronize the
software table (see "Synchronizing the Software Table"
for details).
When the SYNCTABLE command is used after the LOAD command,
it will synchronize only unreserved and currently occupied
media storage slots.

Unloading the Disks
To unload disks, ensure the Model 20GB/A is switched on and in the READY

2. Unlock the mailslot using the UNLOAD command of MOUTIL and specify
the media name or media storage slot to be unloaded. For example:
moutil: UNLOAD LDEV=102;MEDIANAME=BK1130PM.D18JAN91.KING
3. Press the EJECT key to display the storage slot number. If the
media set occupies multiple storage slots, the display will show

mailslot, the EJECT indicator blinks and SLOT ## displays, where
