HP Motif/iX Programmer's Supplement

Chapter 2 Overview of Implementation Differences

This chapter provides a detailed overview of how the implementation of HP
Motif/iX differs from the implementation described in X and OSF/Motif
developer's documentation. In addition, this chapter provides
information about using the C/iX compiler, C/iX libraries,[REV BEG] and
the c89 interface to the C/iX compiler[REV END] when developing your X
client.

As was stated in chapter 1, manuals that describe X and the OSF/Motif
widget set are written assuming that you are familiar with the HP-UX
operating system. The manuals contain references to the implementation
of X and OSF/Motif widgets on an HP-UX-based HP 9000 computer system that
do not apply to the implementation of HP Motif/iX on an MPE/iX- based 900
Series HP 3000 computer system. However, implementation differences are
quite few and, in most cases, information found in these manuals is
applicable to HP Motif/iX.

Implementation differences are restricted to the following features:

   *   directory differences
   *   file names
   *   resource management
   * the behavior of the C/iX compiler and C/iX libraries
