TurboSTORE/XL II User's Guide

Storing to a Single Tape Device

When you store to a single tape device (magnetic tape or DDS-format),
files are copied one file at a time. When the backup tape is full, it
automatically rewinds and you are prompted to load a new tape. When the
second tape is loaded, TurboSTORE/XL II continues writing files until all
of the qualified files are stored or another tape is needed. If you are
storing many files, or files that are particularly large, you will have
to individually load several tapes onto the single device.

Figure 2-1 illustrates a single-device backup.
