SYSGEN Error Messages
Following are the SYSGEN error messages associated with SPU
Switchover/XL:

MESSAGE ** Warning ** System does not exist.
CAUSE An attempt was made to delete a system name that does not
exist in the SPU Switchover/XL configuration file.
ACTION Perform a SHOW command to find the correct name of the system.
Reenter the command using the correct name.

MESSAGE ** Warning ** Pair does not exist.
CAUSE An attempt was made to delete an SPU pair that does not exist
in the SPU Switchover/XL configuration file.
ACTION Perform a SHOW command to find the correct names of the system
pairs. Reenter the command using the correct names.

MESSAGE ** Warning ** Volume set does not exist.
CAUSE An attempt was made to delete a volume set entry that does not
exist in the SPU Switchover/XL configuration file.
ACTION Perform a SHOW command to find the correct name of the volume
set. Reenter the command using the correct names.

MESSAGE ** Warning ** No systems are configured.
CAUSE A SHOW command was done, but there are no systems defined in
the SPU Switchover/XL configuration file. (The file is
empty.)
ACTION None; this is an information only warning.

MESSAGE ** Warning ** Systems not configured as part of pairs found.
CAUSE A SHOW command was done, and there are systems that are not
configured as part of pairs.
ACTION Add pairs and volume sets to the SPU Switchover/XL
configuration file.

MESSAGE ** Warning ** Pairs without volume sets found.
CAUSE A SHOW command was done and there are pairs without volume
sets in the SPU Switchover/XL configuration file.
ACTION Add volume sets to the SPU Switchover/XL configuration file.

MESSAGE ** Error ** SPU Switchover/XL product not installed.
CAUSE The ASYSTEM command was used, but the SPU Switchover/XL
product was not installed.
ACTION Install the SPU Switchover/XL product. If the product has
been installed, recheck the installation.

MESSAGE ** Error ** SPUCONTROL STOP must be done before configuration
changes.
CAUSE An attempt was made to add or delete (change) the SPU
Switchover/XL configuration file while SPU Switchover/XL is
still active.
ACTION Do an SPUCONTROL STOP command before making configuration
changes to the SPU Switchover/XL configuration file.

MESSAGE ** Error ** System name must be alphanumeric.
CAUSE Nonalphanumeric characters were used in the system name.
ACTION Reenter the command using the correct system name.

MESSAGE ** Error ** SPU Switchover/XL not supported on this OS
version.
CAUSE The operating system version does not support SPU
Switchover/XL. The SYSGEN version does support SPU
Switchover/XL.
ACTION Ensure that the operating system version and SYSGEN are
compatible.

MESSAGE ** Error ** Illegal characters in volume set name.
CAUSE Illegal characters were found in the volume set name.
ACTION Reenter the command using the correct volume set name.

MESSAGE ** Error ** SPU Switchover/XL not installed properly.
CAUSE Improper installation of SPU Switchover/XL caused the ASYSTEM
command to fail.
ACTION Recheck the installation of the SPU Switchover/XL product.

MESSAGE ** Error ** Home and alternate system names must be unique.
CAUSE The APAIR command was entered, and the home and alternate
systems were identified with the same name.
ACTION Reenter the APAIR command using the unique names assigned to
the home and alternate systems.

MESSAGE ** Error ** Currently executing system is not identified.
CAUSE The APAIR command was entered before naming the currently
executing system with the ASYSTEM command.
ACTION Name the system with the ASYSTEM command before using the
APAIR command.

MESSAGE ** Error ** Command can only be entered on the home or
alternate system.
CAUSE The APAIR command was entered, and neither the specified home
or alternate systems are the currently executing system (the
system the command is being executed on).
ACTION Reenter the command using the currently executing system's
name as either the home or alternate system.

MESSAGE ** Error ** Systems are not connected through FL disks.
CAUSE The APAIR command was entered and neither the specified home
or alternate systems are connected through fiber link disks,
or the partner system has not been named using the ASYSTEM
command.
ACTION Check the fiber link connections between the home and
alternate systems.

MESSAGE ** Error ** System is already identified.
CAUSE The ASYSTEM command was entered for a system that has already
been named.
ACTION None; unless configuration changes are required. If
configuration changes are required, delete all pairs and
volume sets associated with the system to be renamed, delete
the system name, and add the new system name to the
configuration file.

MESSAGE ** Error ** Home system does not exist.
CAUSE The AVOLSET command was entered, but the system has not been
identified in a pair entry as the home system.
ACTION Enter the APAIR command identifying the system as the home
system.

MESSAGE ** Error ** Error while seeking information in the SPUINFO
file.
CAUSE An FPOINT to a record (record pointer) in the SPU
Switchover/XL configuration file failed.
ACTION Recreate the SPU Switchover/XL configuration file from another
group.

MESSAGE ** Error ** Error while reading the SPUINFO file.
CAUSE An FREAD to a record (read record) in the SPU Switchover/XL
configuration file failed.
ACTION Recreate the SPU Switchover/XL configuration file from another
group.

MESSAGE ** Error ** Maximum number of configured systems is !.
CAUSE An APAIR command exceeded the maximum number of allowed
systems.
ACTION None; unless the new system pair is required. If the system
pair is required, reconfigure the system by deleting volume
sets, pairs, and systems before adding new systems to the
configuration.

CAUSE The SPU Switchover/XL configfuration file has been corrupted
by the records being out of order or inconsistent with the
information in the header record.
ACTION Recreate the SPU Switchover/XL configuration file from another
group.

CAUSE A DSYSTEM command was done for a system that still has a pair
associated with it.
ACTION Delete the pairs and volume sets before deleting the system.

CAUSE A DPAIR command was done for a pair that still has volume sets
associated with it.
ACTION Delete the volume sets before deleting the pair.

MESSAGE ** Error ** Both home and alternate systems must be specified.
CAUSE A SHOW command was done specifying either the HOME= parameter
or the ALT= parameter, but not both.
ACTION Reenter the SHOW command specifying both the HOME= parameter
and the ALT= parameter or neither of the parameters.
