HP ALLBASE/BRW Reference Manual

Naming Conventions

Formula and condition names must follow HP ALLBASE/BRW item name rules.
That is:

   *   They must start with a letter, $, # or @.

   * The first letter can be followed by up to 19 characters.

   * The name cannot contain points, parentheses, spaces or commas
       (letters, digits, and dashes are allowed).

   * Items of the same type must have unique names.

   * Items of different types (for example a layout calculated item and
       a Layout Function) can have identical names, but note:

          * Follow the rules for priority of arguments (see Arguments
              earlier in this section).

   * No item having the same name as a reserved word can be used in a
       calculation. A list of reserved words is given later in this
       chapter.
